Tom's start to life at Welling United has been very much injury hit, in his very first game, a friendly away to National League South side Tonbridge Angels, Tom pulled up on 23 minutes with a hamstring injury!
A bright start from Welling United saw Tom Leahy curl an angled effort narrowly wide inside the opening three minutes.
Strong attacking link-up play between Leahy and Ruben Shakpoke continued to push Tonbridge onto the back foot, with Welling creating chances that could easily have resulted in one or two early goals.
However, on 23 minutes, after being played through on goal, Leahy went down awkwardly and was forced to leave the pitch, taking no further part in the game.

After missing three games through injury, Tom Leahy made his return in the away fixture against VCD Athletic. He quickly made an impact — providing an assist on 25 minutes before finding the net himself on 37 minutes.
Unfortunately, just minutes later, Leahy was forced off with a strain to the same hamstring that had side-lined him previously.

Tom again missed the following three fixtures, before making his return at the start of the second half in Welling United’s first league game of the season away at Cheshunt..
Wings boss Lee Martin, serving a touchline ban following a red card received as a player for Ramsgate at the end of last season, made a triple substitution at half-time.
Tom Leahy, John Ufuah, and James Dyer were all introduced in a bid to inject fresh energy and attacking intent into Welling’s second-half performance.
The changes had an immediate effect, with Leahy linking up well with Ruben Shakepoke on the edge of the Cheshunt box, whose early effort deflected just over.
As the game entered its closing stages, Ufuah again caused problems down the left, cutting the ball back to Leahy, who struck well from a promising position — only to be denied by the Cheshunt goalkeeper with six minutes remaining.

Tom Leahy returned to the starting line-up for Welling United’s home game against Lewes, as the Wings dominated much of a one-sided first half.
Leahy, alongside John Ufuah and Ruben Shakepoke, caused constant problems for the Lewes defence with sharp link-up play and forward runs.
However, on 30 minutes, Leahy’s injury troubles struck again — this time a strain to the opposite hamstring — forcing him to leave the field and take no further part in the match.

Returning from injury, Tom Leahy was introduced at the start of the second half away to Dulwich Hamlet, following Welling United’s reduction to ten men.
Leahy immediately made his presence felt — winning key aerial duels that had been missed in the first half and lifting the team’s tempo. His influence led to a spell of sustained pressure, forcing successive corners, one of which resulted in Welling pulling a goal back.
Moments later, Leahy picked up the ball on the left wing, drove at the Dulwich defenders, and cut inside onto his right foot, curling a low effort narrowly past the far post.

Tom Leahy went straight back into the starting line-up for Welling United’s FA Cup tie at home to Slough Town, a side from the division above.
Originally planned to play just 45 minutes as part of a careful return from a recurring injury, Leahy went on to complete an impressive 60 minutes, tirelessly running at the Slough defence, creating several chances and going close to scoring on two occasions.

In the FA Cup replay away to Slough Town, Tom Leahy again started for Welling United. For the second time in three games, the Wings were reduced to ten men early on, following a red card inside the opening seven minutes.
Operating under managed minutes due to his recent injury, Leahy impressed with his work rate — bringing down a long forward pass and, under pressure, attempting to chip the onrushing goalkeeper, with his effort drifting just wide of the left post.
He completed around 60 minutes, running tirelessly throughout and even dropping into full-back at times to help cover the defensive gaps.

Tom was named among the substitutes for Welling United’s home game against bottom side Canvey Island, as he was given a planned rest.
With the score goalless at half-time, Leahy was introduced to add fresh energy and attacking drive — and his impact was immediate. Within 11 minutes of his arrival, Welling scored three goals, turning control of the match and securing the points. However a late challenge by the Canvey left back after Leahy had beat him to the ball, would see him spend the next 4 weeks side-lined.
