Leahy Strike Sets Angels on Course at Torquay
Tom Leahy’s early goal laid the foundations for a valuable away victory as Tonbridge Angels overcame Torquay United on the south coast.
The winger struck with confidence in the opening stages, calmly finishing after being played in by Arthur Penney to give the Angels an early advantage and put immediate pressure on the hosts. It was a moment that set the tone for a disciplined and controlled performance from the visitors.
Leahy remained a constant threat throughout, combining well in advanced areas and working tirelessly both on and off the ball as Tonbridge looked to manage the game intelligently. His movement continued to stretch the Torquay defence, while his link-up play helped the Angels maintain attacking intent during key periods of the match.
Tonbridge added a second goal to strengthen their position and, despite a late response from Torquay, saw the game out with composure to secure a deserved victory. For Leahy, it was another influential display, blending end product with work rate as the Angels returned home with all three points.
