Tonbridge Angels delivered an outstanding away performance, taking full control at the Beveree and running out deserved 0–3 winners. Angels were aggressive out of possession, clinical in transition, and showed the kind of collective work rate that wins difficult away games.
Playing on the left wing, Tom Leahy put in another big shift for the team, influencing the match far beyond what appears on the surface. His role constantly flexed — at times operating as a left winger, drifting into the No.10 pocket, and even stepping up into centre-forward positions to press and stretch Hampton’s back line. His closing down was aggressive and purposeful, repeatedly forcing rushed passes and turnovers that set the tone for Tonbridge’s intensity.
Tom also produced several well-timed, clever off-the-ball runs, breaking into pockets of space behind the defence. A couple of these movements were excellent attacking opportunities that simply weren’t picked up early enough by team-mates; on a different day, those runs could easily have led to chances or even goals.
Overall, it was a performance built on hard running, adaptability, and tactical discipline — the kind of contribution that helps a team dominate an away fixture and protect a lead. A strong, team-focused showing from Leahy inside a commanding Tonbridge win.
Tonbridge Angels slipped to a narrow 1–0 defeat away at Chippenham Town, despite a competitive, hard-working display and a missed second-half penalty that could have changed the game.
Across his 74 minutes on the right side of midfield, Tom Leahy was one of Tonbridge’s most influential runners. He consistently drove the team up the pitch with powerful ball-carrying, and just as importantly, produced a huge amount of unselfish off-the-ball work — covering for team-mates, tracking runners, and helping maintain the defensive shape in a scrappy match where concentration mattered.
Tom’s timed bursts into the box were a real threat throughout. He made several intelligent late runs beyond the forwards that often weren’t spotted early enough by team-mates; with quicker, more targeted passes into those movements, Tonbridge could easily have created clearer chances and altered the rhythm of the game.
Leahy's heat map reflects his conditioning, fitness and game involvement: strong activity down the right inside channel, covering across the line, repeated recovery work, and regular advanced positions during attacking phases.
A committed, team-first performance in a tight match where small margins decided the result.
Tom Leahy delivered another strong performance in Tonbridge’s 1–1 draw away at Bath City. Operating on the right flank, he offered constant running, direct play and defensive cover throughout he's 85 minutes.
Leahy pressed aggressively, tracked runners, and was one of Tonbridge’s most reliable outlets in transition. His work rate stood out again — stretching the pitch, supporting overlaps, and repeatedly driving the team forward whenever the ball came his way.
Manager Alan Dunne was full of praise in his post-match interview, saying he thought Tom was “again outstanding” and “worked his sock's off”, a fair reflection of Leahy’s overall contribution. His discipline off the ball and energy on it helped Tonbridge maintain control in key spells of the game.
A solid, committed display from Leahy, reinforcing why he continues to earn the manager’s trust with his fitness and in the starting line up.
New signing Tom Leahy made his debut for Tonbridge Angels on Saturday, coming off the bench in the 61st minute against National League South leaders Hornchurch.
Despite the 0–1 home defeat, Leahy’s lively display caught the eye of manager Alan Dunne, who praised the striker’s impact after the match.
“Tom was excellent,” said Dunne. “I was really happy with his performance — he gave us energy, movement, and a glimpse of what’s to come.”
It may not have been the result the Angels wanted, but Leahy’s debut offered plenty of encouragement for supporters looking ahead to the next fixture.
Tom Leahy has today signed for National League South side Tonbridge Angels on initial non-contract terms. Leahy goes straight into the squad to face league leaders Hornchurch, this Saturday.
